Storage Unit Awareness – Knowing What to Ask
When renting a storage unit, you want to make sure you get the best bang for your buck. While storage units can be useful and efficient for your needs, going in unprepared can lead to missed opportunities and unwelcome surprises. At Monarch Storage of St. George Utah, we want you to feel educated on how to find the best storage unit for you. Before making the final decision, make sure to ask these questions.
I have [your items], what size would be best for me?
Storage unit facilities are not out to trick you. Storage facility managers want to be able to offer you a storage unit that fits your needs. Ask for the opinion of the worker concerning the different sizes of units. You don’t want to rent the largest size only to leave it unused, nor would you want to get the smallest and discover your belongings don’t fit. Also, don’t forget that your storage unit is three-dimensional. Order and stack your items to get the most out of your storage unit.
Are there any promotions or deals for renting a storage unit?
Don’t miss out on great deals for your storage unit because of feeling too timid to ask! Again, if you are going to rent a storage space, you should be getting the best deal available. Ask the storage facility manager about promotions offered for renting a storage unit. At Monarch Storage, we offer a month free upon renting for three months, and we agree to price match with any other storage facility in St. George. Don’t choose a place that is looking to rip you off. A storage unit should work for you, not the other way around.
Can I see the unit I would actually be renting?
This helps to guarantee that you are satisfied with the space you’d receive. Some places have a specific storage unit they show to potential customers, but sometimes the storage unit you actually receive is more dirty and unkempt. Instead of making an unpleasant discovery when you have already agreed to the rental, go ahead and ask the manager to see the space you would personally rent. That way, you know exactly what you are getting prior to paying.
What are the hours?
This is good to know so you know when you can be at your storage unit. Again, you want to know everything you can about the storage facility before you sign on. This also is a good time to find out about security so you feel confident in the safety of your belongings. Some places don’t provide locks, so don’t forget to ask if they do or to bring your own upon moving in.
What happens if I miss a payment?
Some places are more strict with rent, and even being a day late can bring on penalty charges or warnings of auctioning off the contents of the storage unit. However, the law almost always requires the storage facility to notify the customer through mail, post, or public notice prior to seizing the contents. That way, the customer can pay rent before losing their belongings. Make sure you understand the policy of your storage facility, though.
Be prepared when you go in to rent a storage unit. By asking these questions, you can feel more confident that you have gotten the best deal available. And if you are looking for a great deal in Utah, come to Monarch Storage in St. George for a storage unit best for you!
One Response to “Storage Unit Awareness – Knowing What to Ask”
I like that you recommend to ask to see the unit you are going to be renting. I can see why this would allow to visually see where you will be storing your things for a period of time. My wife and I are wanting to store a couple of our couches while we have our living room remodeled. I’ll have to make sure that we first take a tour of the unit before making our decision.
